Drive through a fallen sequoia tree along the Crescent Meadow Road, known as the Tunnel Log. This unique experience allows visitors to pass through a tree that fell naturally in 1937. Rather than removing the massive tree, the park decided to cut a tunnel through it to allow vehicles to pass.
This decision not only preserved the fallen giant but also created a unique and iconic attraction within the park
- Moro Rock
It is an iconic granite dome rock formation, rising over 6,700 feet (2,042 meters) above sea level. Moro Rock offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Sierra Nevada mountains, including the Great Western Divide.
Visitors can ascend the rock via a steep staircase consisting of more than 350 steps, which were carved into the rock during the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. It provides stunning vistas of the park’s diverse landscape, including lush forests, rugged peaks, and deep canyons.

It’s renowned for its intricate formations of stalactites, stalagmites, columns, and other geological features, all formed over thousands of years through the slow deposition of minerals by dripping water.

These tours typically last about an hour and cover a distance of about half a mile (0.8 kilometers). Along the way, visitors learn about the cave’s formation, geology, and the delicate ecosystem that exists within it.
